Trump Arrives in Los Angeles and is Greeted by California State Senator Shannon Grove from Kern Coun

Shannon Grove has a proven record of service to and a passion for the people of California, and her country.

Although born in Bakersfield, Shannon was raised by her single mom in Arvin, CA. After graduating from Arvin High School, she joined the United States Army and served at Headquarters Company 5th Corps in Frankfurt, Germany. She personally witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 as the Soviet Union fell apart, an experience that only increased her love for her country and her commitment to protect our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.

After finishing her Army service, Shannon returned to Bakersfield. In 1993, she started an employment agency with her sister-in-law called Continental Labor Staffing Resources, with a focus on serving the energy and food production industries. From its humble beginnings, her employment agency has grown into a successful small business that has launched tens of thousands of Central Valley residents into life-long careers.

Shannon first became active in the political process to advocate for worker’s compensation reform. As a result of her two-year participation in promoting this change, she was honored with the California Legislature’s “Small Business Award” in 2005 by then Assemblyman Kevin McCarthy.

Several years later, Shannon decided to pursue representing the interests of Kern County herself and was elected to the California State Assembly in 2010. Over the next six years, she fiercely defended her community’s values and its industries, proudly reminding her fellow legislators that Kern County feeds and fuels the nation.

Shannon was the first woman veteran elected to the Assembly and was overwhelmingly re-elected twice. During her tenure in the Legislature, she fought against needless government regulations and higher taxes. She staunchly supported Second Amendment rights and government accountability. She advocated for job creators and was relentless in her efforts to reform the Private Attorney General Act.

Shannon knows firsthand the role water plays in the central valley. While in the Assembly, she supported and promoted water storage programs and advocated for sensible water policies.

She also prioritized defending our most vulnerable, those with developmental disabilities by supporting increased funding for their care, service, and treatment – all the while shutting down abuse riddled state run facilities. She also has a reputation for her defense of the unborn.

Shannon was the only California legislator to actively participate in the American Renewal Project which targeted key battleground states to mobilize faith based conservative voters for the 2016 Presidential campaign.

For years, Shannon has been active in volunteering and philanthropy around Kern County and abroad.

Shannon and her husband, Rick, are proud to live in Kern County where they are members of the Assemblies of God church. They are the proud parents of 5 grown children and 6 grandchildren.
