Coronavirus in California: Orange County Sheriff says his department won't enforce mask order

Valarie Espinoza, Copyright 2020 A California sheriff is vowing that his department will look the other way when it comes to enforcing a health order asking residents to wear face coverings in public during the coronavirus outbreak. Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes announced his stance Tuesday while speaking to its board of supervisors. The county, like others around the U.S., recently passed an order requiring its residents to put on masks in places where they can’t stay at least 6 feet apart, the Los Angeles Times reports. “We are not the mask police -- nor do I intend to be the mask police,” Barnes said. “I think what we have seen repeatedly throughout the community is Orange County resid

Newsom guidelines say Californians can protest — under these restrictions

Valarie Espinoza, Copyright 2020 ‘They are using coronavirus to upend safeguards to election integrity,’ says RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel discussing the GOP suing Gavin Newsom for his vote-by-mail executive order California health officials on Tuesday released new criteria for political protest, restricting, among other things, the number of attendees at a demonstration. The new restrictions come as the state has slowly begun to reopen its economy in at least 47 of its 58 counties. But frustration remains among many over the shutdown’s impact on businesses and workers. California’s Department of Public Health said in-person protests are still allowed to take place, but stressed that they c

What Autocrat, Dictator or Tyrant has Ever Willingly Given Up One-Man Rule?

The Legislature has authority to terminate the Gov. Newsom’s emergency powers Under California’s state-of-emergency rules, on March 4, in response to the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Gavin Newsom was the first governor to declare a state of emergency, elevating him to complete autocratic control. Since then, Governor Newsom has issued 39 Executive Orders, unilaterally changing 200 laws spanning most sections of the California code,” Assemblymen Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin) and James Gallagher (R-Yuba City) informed us last week. “This includes creating new voting laws for an election six months away and overhauling Workers’ Compensation rules.” The Legislature recessed and left town, leaving Califo

NY Times Front Page Includes List of Coronavirus Victims –

Remember when Reading: 2 of 5 are in NY and NJ and 2 of 5 Are from Nursing Home The Sunday New York Times used the front page to list hundreds of names of victims of the coronavirus. The US is nearing the grim milestone of 100,000 coronavirus deaths since the pandemic reached out shores in January. Thank God for President Trump or this number would likely be at least 4 times that amount. As usual, The New York Times is not quite forthcoming with its liberal audience. At least 2 of 5 of the US coronavirus deaths were in New York and New Jersey thanks to the fact that their Democrat governors tossed sick patients in nursing homes. And at last another 2 of 5 deaths were in nursing homes across

Baltimore Pastor Tears Up Cease-and-Desist Order: ‘We’re Gonna Do it God’s Way’

A pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland tore up a cease-and-desist order that he was issued during a sermon on Wednesday night, a report said. Stacey Shiflett, who was threatened with a $5,000 fine if he continued to hold in-person services, tore up the order proclaiming, “We’re going to do it God’s way,” according to The Hill. In a video that was posted online, Shiflett can be heard exclaiming “So I’m tearing up this cease-and-desist order right here, and I’m telling you right now, we’re gonna do it God’s way! God tells us how to worship Him, nobody else gets to do that.” On Friday, Governor Larry Hogan said that places of worship are allowed to reopen as long as they were

(Photo: Twitter) On Saturday, an estimated 2,000 people protested the state lockdown outside the State Capitol Building in Sacramento, the first of many planned protests across the state during Memorial Day weekend. The protest in Sacramento, called Liberty Fest, was led by the Freedom Angels Foundation, who have led numerous protest events around California in May. Saturday’s protest, along with the dozens of protests that have occurred this month alone throughout the state, was against the statewide lockdown and the subsequent business and service shutdowns. Governor Gavin Newsom was a particular target of protesters ire due to the slow n

The Doors of the Church were Closed and Locked.

To all the religious leaders of St. Catherine Church. Today I walked down to St. Catherine Church in Morgan Hill for the 10:30 Sunday service and to receive Holy Communion. The doors of the church were closed and locked. Even though our President has just announced this week that the churches are allowed to open their doors, the leaders of St Catherine Church have decide to remain closed to their parishioners that wish to practice their religion. This is very disappointing and gives me pause that St. Catherine Church is more concerned with what political narrative state and local un-elected bureaucrats dictate with "illegal" mandates that are forced onto the public. Where are the leaders in

Kate Brown in response to a lawsuit filed by churches and residents challenging the state shutdown, the Washington Times reported. Gov. Brown, a member of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s 5-state compact to leverage money from the federal government, had doubled down and extended her lockdown order through July. Baker County Circuit Court Judge Matthew B. Shirtcliff said in a seven-page d

Open L.A. Business Now: Back To Work Day.

A group of citizen activists is calling for a county wide “Back to Work” Day on June 1. In light of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ refusal to acknowledge the realities of the Corona virus, their insistence on picking winners and losers among the County’s businesses, and the skyrocketing numbers of permanent business closures and unemployment filings with the cascade of other consequences to this destruction of our economy, the group feels it’s time for businesses to open up in a safe and responsible way and get back to work. During the course of the lockdown, many businesses have been “allowed” to operate, while others are discriminated against and forced to stay closed for an

U.S. Department of Justice Gives Gov. Newsom Stern Warning Over Church Closings

DOJ cites First Amendment in California house of worship closures There is no pandemic exception to the U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) sent Governor Gavin Newsom a three-page letter warning that that state’s house of worship closures are discriminatory and should receive equal treatment under the First Amendment. The letter from Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband specifically noted that while businesses and film studios are allowed to currently operate in California, houses of worship remain closed. Dreiband specifically cited this as an ‘unequal treatment of faith communities’. “Simply put, there is no pandemic exception to th

Puerto Rico will hold a non-binding referendum to decide the issue of Puerto Rico’s statehood, the governor announced. Newsom Reveals Slashed Budget, Says HEROES Act Is Solution

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s revised $203.3 billion budget could mean 10 percent across-the-board wage cuts for state employees and slashing education spending. Newsom proposed the drastic cuts in his “May Revise” to make up for a massive $54.3 billion budget shortfall as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “As painful as the state’s budget may be, personal budgets are even more devastating … You’ve exhausted your savings; your credit has been completely destroyed; you are desperate to get a sense of not only your fate but our collective future,” he said at a press conference May 14 to announce his revised budget. More than 4.6 million Californians have applied for unemployment insurance be

Newsom Proposes to Abandon Paradise Recovery Effort

Camp Fire Paradise, CA CA State Senator Jim Nielsen, Senate District 4 While unveiling his revised budget Thursday, Governor Gavin Newsom turned his back on fire victims and the struggling Town of Paradise. The Governor’s May Revise budget claws back $7.3 million in funding that was approved in last year’s budget to help keep the Paradise Irrigation District (PID) financially stable after its customer base was decimated in the 2018 Camp Fire. Without this promised funding, the ability to provide water to Town residents is now in question. “It’s beyond the pale - taking funds from Camp Fire recovery.
