Analyst: Major DMV account heading toward collapse

The clock is ticking on a major funding source for California’s Department of Motor Vehicles. An account used to fund 95 percent of the DMV’s expenses will soon become insolvent, according to a nonpartisan report published on Tuesday. The Legislative Analyst’s Office predicts the $3.9 billion Motor Vehicle Account, which primarily funds the California Highway Patrol and DMV, will collapse in a few years. By 2021-2022, California will be unable to pay down its debts, according to Anthony Simbol, deputy legislative analyst. “We’ve just been dipping into our reserves, but at some point, the fund will go insolvent,” Simbol said. “The Legislature has to raise fees, provide general fund support, o

California Republicans elect Millennial Latina as new leader

wp:paragraph SACRAMENTO — The California Republican Party elected Jessica Millan Patterson as its chairwoman Sunday, making her the first woman and first Latina to lead the 140-year-old organization. The 38-year-old Patterson, a longtime political operative who was raised in Hacienda Heights (Los Angeles County) and lives in Ventura County, promised to expand the beleaguered party into communities of color. Latinos and Asian Americans in particular have been fleeing the party for decades as the GOP adopted harsh rhetoric and restrictive policies on immigration. “Let’s serve notice to the Democrats in California that we are back and we are ready to deliver on the Republican comeback,” Patters

No Dreamin’ Anymore: California Nightmare

By Daniel Wiseman The State of California must be brought to heal, or if not, than to heel. California is in open rebellion against the United States and the American People. Americans living in California are being disenfranchised because foreign nationals have been allowed to vote in United States federal elections, in addition to other types of ballot box fraud. In the judiciary, the U.S. Ninth District Court that sits in San Francisco openly undermines the clear Constitutional authority of the Executive Branch of government to conduct the foreign policy of the United States of America, specifically concerning naturalization, immigration, and border security. Now comes Democrat California

"The third call of Commercy's yellow vests against racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of persecution Since November 17, and even before the great mobilization, our citizen movement has been described as racist and "beauf" by both the press and the government. Even President Macron has not hesitated to describe us as "hateful crowds" who would attack elected officials, the police, journalists, Jews, foreigners

The Greatest Constitutional Crisis Since the Civil War

Photo Credit: Andrew Caballero-Renyolds/AFP/Getty Images The most immense and dangerous public scandal in American history is finally cracking open like a ripe pomegranate. The broad swath of the Trump-hating media that has participated in what has amounted to an unconstitutional attempt to overthrow the government are reduced to reporting the events and revelations of the scandal in which they have been complicit, in a po-faced ho-hum manner to impart to the misinformed public that this is as routine as stock market fluctuations or the burning of an American flag in Tehran. For more than two years, the United States and the world have had two competing narratives: that an elected president

Techlash to accelerate as globalism fades

Techlash to accelerate as globalism fades "Techlash" against omnipotent Silicon Valley corporate giants is accelerating as President Trump demonstrates that globalism is no longer a prime economic driver. FAANG tech giants that include Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Alphabet (Google) were almost worthless in 2000, but by March 20, 2018, the combined stock market capitalization of these companies reached an all-time high of $3.015 trillion. Presidents since George W. Bush have demanded that China increase imports of U.S. goods or suffer retaliatory tariffs. But Chinese representatives would fly to the U.S. and quickly negotiate mostly cosmetic and noneconomic promises to quiet dispute

Gun rights, 51st state are linked, Shea tells rally

OLYMPIA – Striding back and forth across the marbled Rotunda with the flag of the proposed state of Liberty behind him, Rep. Matt Shea drew a connection between supporting gun rights and splitting Washington at the crest of the Cascade Mountains. Despite all the talk he’s heard about “One Washington” around the Capitol, Eastern Washington and liberal downtown Seattle are very different, the Spokane Valley Republican said. Residents of the latter might support more government regulations, higher taxes and gun control; residents of the former don’t, he said. About 50 people gathered in chairs and on the steps around him cheered and clapped. “We’re not going to live in a state that takes away o

Insolvent California wants to Nationalize Bankrupt PG&E

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the insolvent State of California is putting together a ‘Strike Team’ that could move to nationalize the assets of the bankrupt PG&E utility. Newsom told lawmakers in his State of the State speech, “We’re facing hard decisions that are coming due.” In his first month in office, Newsom has been dealing with a $7 billion tax shortfall since December, $1 trillion unfunded public employee pensions, President Trump threatening to withhold $9 billion in wildfire aid, and cancelation of the state’s $98.1 billion high-speed-rail boondoggle. Undeterred by the tsunami of grim financial challenges, the wildly progressive rookie governor trumpeted that he convened a ‘Strike T

Here it is New Californians: Gavin Newsom wants California to be its own nation-state in the Trump e

SACRAMENTO — Just five weeks into the job, Gov. Gavin Newsom has crystallized his vision of what California will look like in the Trump era: It won’t just be the hub of the resistance against the president; it will be its own nation-state. But before Newsom can create a country-within-a-country, he had to defuse two multibillion-dollar grenades that his predecessor, Gov. Jerry Brown, left in his in-box: high-speed rail and the delta tunnels project. In proposing Tuesday to scale back both of Brown’s unpopular legacy projects, Newsom hopes he can preserve enough political capital to get his own legacy projects on the fast track. If he can do that, he can lead California down its own path for

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s missed budget in his first month in office by $1.81 billion on a $2.53 billion crash in personal income tax collections. Despite the State of California tax collection in December missing budget by -$4.82 billion, newly inaugurated Gov. Newsom proposed a record$144.2-billion spending plan for the 2019-2020 Budget on January 9 that included spending another $5.2-billion for "Cradle-to-Career" education, $1-billion for earned income tax credit for the poor, and $100 million for refuge immigrants fleeing Central America violence. California officials at the time, claimed December’s huge revenue miss was due to high-income taxpayers making 2018 payments in late 20

Illinois lawmaker files bill that would make Chicago the 51st state

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) - An Illinois state representative has introduced a bill that urges the U.S. Congress to make Chicago its own state and not a part of Illinois. Rep. Brad Halbrook, of Shelbyville, filed the resolution HR0101 on February 7th, and it was co-sponsored by Rep. Chris Miller, of Robinson, and Darren Bailey, of Louisville. The bill claims the majority of the residents in downstate Illinois disagree with the City of Chicago on issues such as gun ownership, abortion, immigration, and other policy issues, This is not the first time in the state's 200 year history that measures have been taken to separate the State of Illinois from the City of Chicago: in 1925, Western Illinois

What If There Were 42 Million at the Border?

Here's a good question about caravans: How many more are coming? Gallup asked the whole population of Latin America. There are 33 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Roughly 450 million adults live in the region. Gallup asked them, "Would you like to move to another country permanently if you could?" A whopping 27% said "yes." So this means roughly 120 million would like to migrate somewhere. The next question Gallup asked was, "Where would you like to move?" Of those who want to leave their Latin American country permanently, 35% said they want to go to the United States. The Gallup analytics estimate is that 42 million want to come to the U.S. Forty-two million seekers of citizen
