Splitting up Calif.: State Supreme Court takes initiative off the November ballot

The state Supreme Court decided Wednesday that California will remain intact geographically, at least for now, while it decides whether the voters can consider a proposal to divide the Golden State into three new states. The three-state initiative, Proposition 9, had gathered enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. Nine days after opponents filed suit, the court issued a unanimous order removing the measure from the ballot and ordering further legal arguments on whether it should be placed on another ballot in 2020 or struck down altogether. The court said it usually allows ballot measures to go to the voters before considering constitutional challenges. But in this case, the s

Remove three Californias plan from the ballot, Supreme Court says

July 09, 2018 05:16 PM Breaking News The California Supreme Court ruled Wednesday in favor of opponents of a plan to divide California into three, saying the measure should not appear on the November ballot. The court instructed Secretary of State Alex Padilla to refrain from putting the measure before voters pending further review, “because significant questions have been raised regarding the proposition’s validity, and because we conclude that the potential harm in permitting the measure to remain on the ballot outweighs the potential harm in delaying the proposition to a future election...” The environmental nonprofit Planning and Conservation League and political attorneys alleged that b

Lawsuit Hearing To Remove Xavier Becerra as California Attorney General

Should the powerful be allowed to ignore or change the laws they don’t agree with? Of course not. But that issue is at the heart of a lawsuit filed in May by former Attorney General candidate Eric Early against the unelected, appointed California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, who is running to keep his office. The case was heard Friday morning in Sacramento Superior Court. When Becerra filed his election paperwork with the California Secretary of State, he represented that he was qualified for the position of Attorney General. However, according to Early, Becerra had been unlicensed by the California State Bar Association for 26 years when Gov. Jerry Brown appointed him, and continues to

Why the Grievances?

Since New California State declared independence from the State of California January 15, 2018 with their own Declaration of Independence the 'process' of the Declaration of Independence for New California State continues for the next 15 weeks until all 40 Grievances have been documented. Note the word 'process'. Process is described as a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end. The end is understanding the words in the declaration to the masses. When the Founders of the original July 4, 1776 U.S. Declaration of Independence authored the declaration they included 'Grievances' in the actual document. The reason was obvious back then as printing presses were few

Lawsuit aims to remove measure to divide California into three states from ballot

"The 3 state proposal by Tim Draper is dead on arrival." Paul Preston, New California State, June 12, 2018 WASHINGTON TIMES SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Opponents of an initiative to split California into three states asked the state Supreme Court to pull the measure from the ballot, arguing it’s too drastic a change to state government to go through the normal initiative process. A lawsuit filed Monday by the Planning and Conservation League argues major changes to the state’s government structure require approval from two-thirds of the Legislature before going under consideration by voters or a state constitutional convention. The initiative would break the state into Northern California, Californ

The annual Tuolumne County Civil Grand Jury blasted the Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority over a lack of transparency and for not following the same procedures and best practices as other taxpayer-funded public agencies. The 183-page report released Friday detailed the jury’s findings and recommendations from its investigation of the TCEDA conducted over the past year, in addition to investigations of Sierra Conservation Center, Tuolumne County Jail, the Mother Lode Regional Juvenile Detention Facility, Groveland Community Services District, and deteriorating county roads. New California State uses Constitutional Process while Others act as Separatists and declare indep

"I read the article in the Washington Times following my interview with the author and it appeared to me again the only legitimate effort to create a new state which is sound Constitutionally and as the Founding Fathers envisioned is the New California State movement. All others believe the Constitution to be an imperfect document to be re-envisioned by their flawed world views."............Paul Preston, Co-founder New California State While other Americans celebrate the holiday with picnics and parades, California secessionists are taking Independence Day literally. Trump Declares California ‘State Of Rebellion’

Last March President Trump declared that California is in a “state of rebellion” following his visit to the state. During the President's trip, Trump secretly met with top officials of the US military, CIA, FBI and Homeland Security at the San Diego based Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Shortly after, he met with the founder of the ‘State of New California’ who just weeks ago declared their independence. Following these meetings, Trump decided that California’s leftist-government must be abolished and a new one urgently formed. President Trump during his March 2018 visit to California examines "Wall" prototypes. reports: Reminiscent of the 20th century State and local “J

Could Trump and Sessions send federal troops to California over immigration?

President Eisenhower sent federal troops to enforce school desegregation in Little Rock over the Arkansas governor's opposition. Sessions is warning California on immigration. Is California the next Little Rock? Recent statements by Attorney General Jeff Sessions suggest that it might be. Last week I wrote about folks in California who want to split the state in various ways. But no sooner was that published than Sessions put California on notice in a blistering speech that invoked the American Civil War. Attorney General Jeff Sessions in California March 2018 "I understand that we have a wide variety of political opinions out there on immigration. But the law is in the books and its purpos

Rural California wants a divorce from rich California

Plenty of states' rural regions are looking to split from richer metro areas, but maybe there is a better solution than adding new stars to our flag. We’re starting to hear more about secession. Not the perennial post-election calls of losing parties to secede from a nation controlled by the opposition, but a growing movement for secession from states, with the parts of states (sometimes geographically very large parts of states) wanting to separate from the population-dense urban areas that essentially control state decision-making. Feeling ignored, put-upon, and mistreated, state secessionists want to take their fate into their own hands. At present, there’s little prospect of adding stars
