Trump/Putin Alaska Negotiations Are About Global Dominance

The official United States delegation for the Trump–Putin summit has no American
Military or Intelligence Secretary. President Donald Trump will be joined by Vice
President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott
Bessent, and special envoy Steve Witkoff. The message is that Trump wants to bring
Russia in from Cold War 2.0 and offer to launch a joint-economic relationship.
President Trump chose to meet President Putin in Alaska to settle Ukraine/Russia War,
because he has ushered in a new foreign policy that tightly interlinks economic power
with security. Aggressive use of tariffs, renewed focus on Greenland and controversial
comments about reclaiming the Panama Canal all point to a Trump Doctrine that sees
global economic leverage as a tool for reinforcing military dominance.
The Crimean War began in 1853 with a huge Russian Black Sea naval victory over the
Ottoman Empire fleet at the Battle of Sinope. The British and French then joined the
Crimean War in 1854 to keep Russia from gaining Eastern European and Middle East
hegemonic dominance by seizing the Turkish Straits from the Ottoman Empire that
would allow its Black Sea fleet to gain unfettered access to the Mediterranean Sea.
Russia lost over 500,000 soldiers in the war and their Ruble currency was on the verge
of collapse when they were forced to sign the Treaty of Paris in 1856 that prohibited
Russia from maintaining a naval presence or military fortifications in the Black Sea, and
required Russia to give-up Bessarabia at the mouth of the Danube River to Moldovia.
Russia sold Alaska to the United States in 1867 for $7.2 million to pay off its massive
debts accumulated during the Crimean War. That number sounds ridiculously low
today, but the Dollar was exchangeable at the time into 0.048 ounces of gold. So the
U.S. paid 345,600 ounces of gold, or the equivalent of $1.2 billion today.

Every Russian, especially President Vladimar Putin, is thankful that America buying
Alaska saved Russia from a financial collapse and dismemberment by the European
Powers. The Russians see the war in Ukraine as just another attempt by the European
Powers in the form of the NATO Alliance to gobble-up big pieces of their homeland.
Trump recognizes that the biggest potential economic boom on the planet is the Arctic
100-year-ice-melt-cycle that has already opened up the Northern Sea Route (NSR)
traffic for commercial navigation between mid-August to mid-October. Some studies
suggest that with the melt-cycle and new nuclear-powered icebreakers, the NSR route
could be open to year-round commercial shipping by the 2030s.
The NSR offers a significantly shorter shipping route between Europe and Asia, to cut
the transit distance from Murmansk to Yokohama, from 12,840 nautical miles via the
politically unstable Suez Canal, to 5,770 via NSR. Furthermore, the Artic is the world’s
largest treasure trove of unexploited mineral and oil deposits.
Russia with an 85 icebreaker has the largest fleet, followed by 23 for Canada and 16 for
the U.S. But Russia with 24,000 km of Artic coastline is expanding ports, building
nuclear-powered icebreakers, and improving navigation and search-and-rescue capabilities. Russia’s Rosatom nuclear manages an icebreaker fleet that ensures year-
round navigability, with plans to increase cargo traffic to 200 million tonnes in 5 years.
President Trump knew the U.S. ranked fifth with just 1,700 km of Arctic coastline. But to
challenge Russia dominance, he cut deals with Canada, Norway, and Greenland
(Kingdom of Denmark) in his first term to control 22,200 km of Arctic coastline.
The U.S. since the Cold War operated the Arctic deep-water Pituffik Space Base (Thule
Air Base) and is planning a deep-water ports in Nome, Alaska and a Nunavut, Canada
to streamline cargo handling and efficient strategically control Artic naval passage.
Trump has formed a strategic partnership with an American, two Finnish, and a
Canadian shipbuilder to construct 40 nuclear “Arctic Security Cutters” that can break
four feet of ice, travel 12,000 nautical miles, and operate for over 60 days in the
harshest conditions to create the largest class of icebreaking capability in the world.
President Trump is done with Europeans that worked with the Neocon Deep State to try
to destroy his first term, used Lawfare to try to imprison him, or maybe even assassinate
him. Trump understands that Russia won in Ukraine.
Now it is time for the United States to Launch: The Next American Century.
